Water Softening Process
The water softening process involves conversion of hard water into soft water by removing minerals which bring about the hardness. Minerals such as magnesium and calcium have been identified as the ones that cause water hardness. During the softening process these minerals and also iron minerals are removed. The hard water causes water pipes to get clogged and makes soaps and detergents less dissolvent in water. Water softening in general overview is beneficial in the maintenance of house hold appliances such as boilers, laundry machines and water pipes among others. But water for drinking is very important that it be completely clean because impurities in water can lead to serious health problems.
Softening Water through Filtration – Filtration is not just the running of water through a porous material and deeming it safe to drink, it is ensuring that no pathogens are present in the water. The best home water filtration system is a combination system that comprises of two methods of water purification, KDF (Kinetic degradation fluxion) process media and granular activated carbon. Reverse Osmosis filtration is done by passing water through a very small pores material that enables the water coming out the other side to be as particle free as possible. It is not the best filtration system as is evident.
Water that has been softened still contains all the natural essential minerals that people need and is thus absolutely safe for drinking. While this is true for adults softened water should not be used to prepare baby milk because of the high sodium content that occurs after the softening process has been done. Bottled water selling companies have been known to use these water treatment processes to much success. What happens in this case is after the water has been passed through the filter containing the softener it is run through water coolers after which it is packaged by a bottled water delivery system for sale.
Most water selling companies usually use such water treatment for the bolted water that is to be delivered. A good example is in places where the water is very saline and warm. What is usually done is that the water is passed through a filter with a softener and then passed through water coolers before being transferred to the bottled water delivery system to plan on marketing, sales and delivery. It is therefore wise to note that this method of water purification is not 100% safe; mainly because it doesn’t necessarily counter all the pathogens that were present in that water.
Filtration of water has been identified as an effective way of treating water. A type of filtration known as reverse osmosis where water is passed through small porous materials thus coming out clean has a degree of success but is not fool proof. The best home water filtration system has been found to be in the use of two processes .These are kinetic degradation fluxion (KDF) process media and Granular activated carbon where harmful particles and bacteria in water are attracted by the carbon thereby leaving the water safe.
